Updates on the schedule...

So, it's been a busy summer at The Pond! And we're not through yet. Les and Joe were in last week. Tre and the kids are due in this next week for a few days (20th-22th), and Mike and Kimmy the following week (anywhere from 8/27-9/2).

Here's the big news though. I was contacted by Teleka about using the place off and on through the months of September and October. Donnie is traveling back east to, as they put it, "update the work of the Mission", visiting at least 11 different churches while he is here. Telex will be with him part of that time, and Ben will also be with him some of that time for some on-the-job training.

The three of us made the decision that we wanted to support this endeavor, not just because they are family, but also to give support to their ministry. I'm including their tentative schedule here and on the calendar for reference. They will be in the place off and on over that two month period. We think this is a wonderful use of our place over there, and we are happy they asked.

The tentative schedule:
   September: 5-7, 12-28
   October: 2-5, 16-20, 23-29

Let me know if you have any questions about it.

WHOA!!!

Whoa! It is shaping up to be a VERY busy year at what I fondly call, "The Pond"! Make sure and check the calendar below if you or any family members are looking to use the place or stay, because the times are filling up. As well as the calendar at the bottom of the blog I'm setting out a list of dates that you can see clearly, for reference. PLEASE extended family who use the place for swimming, be cognizant of the fact that we have many guests this summer so even though swimming is certainly fine, the house and porch and bunkhouse areas will be pretty much off limits this summer.

Hope your summer is shaping up to be a fine one! Recent tragedies like Vince's death remind us to treasure our times together. We are never promised even one more day, so make use of the ones you have to let those important to you know you care about them and love having them in your life.

God Bless!

Becca and Paul (Rusty and Suzi's Becca):     June 23 - July 9
(I realize this constitutes quite a long period, but they plan to use the place as kind of "home base", and a lot of their time will be spent out and about with family. Their visit will also not affect us hanging out there on Sunday afternoons.)

Norma and Jim                                               July 16 - 22
Jesse and Eric                                                August 11 - 13
Tre and Kids                                                   August 20 - 22
Mike and Kimmy                                            August 27 - Sept. 1

Some updates...

Hello everyone! It's looking like a busy summer at The Pond. This coming weekend is, of course, the big-bash Dewing Reunion 2017. Ben and Ashley will be coming in on Thursday morning to use the place for throughout the weekend, and Joe and Les arrive either late Thursday evening or early Friday morning with their camper.

The Saturday evening part of the gathering, campfire, fellowship, etc., is going to be at The Pond as well. Should be fun.

Just a reminder; Becca (Rusty & Suzi's Becca) and her family have asked if they could headquarter out of the pond place for their vacation this year. Both their families live back here (they live out west), and with a larger family they wanted to have a place where they could spread out and go out from there for visiting times. That will be from June 23rd to around July 8th or 9th. Of course they understand that we don't actually officially rent the place out, so there may be people around off and on, especially on Sunday afternoons, and they are fine with that. Also people can still feel free to use the swimming area at any times, just not be around the house or porches except for Sunday afternoons.

Two more dates to note: Norma & Jim will be using the place for the week of July 16-22, and Tre and family for August 20-22.

Two reserve dates to keep in mind...

Hi everyone! Well, spring is here and summer is fast approaching. Please be sure to check the calendar regularly and also let me know if there are any times you want to reserve the place. We have a couple of reservations from some of our extended Dewing family members this year. Ben and Ashley (Donnie & Teleka's son, Ben) are going to be using the place for the weekend of the Dewing Family Reunion over Memorial Day weekend. I don't have the exact dates yet but will put them tentatively from Friday, the 26th through Sunday, the 28th. Might be shorter, might be longer.

Then Rebecca and Paul (Rusty & Suzi's daughter, Rebecca) have asked to use the place for a two week stay. They live way out west and have quite a large family, so it gets hard to crowd everyone in with family for that long a period. With the help of her sister, Sarah, they have been looking for a place they could rent to headquarter out of, and then Sarah thought of Uncle Tink and Aunt Betty's place and contacted me. Of course we don't rent out. We only suggest a donation to help out with utilities, paper products and such. Their tentative dates are from Friday or Saturday, June 23rd or 24th, through Friday or Saturday, July 8th or 9th. And of course I always point out to extended family that we (our crew) may be there hanging out on Sundays! So far no one has had any problem with that.

We had a lot of storm damage this past winter but it's pretty well cleaned up by now. I may try to organize a house-cleaning day soon for anyone who can help. One other project this year that I will be doing soon is getting new oilcloth for all the picnic tables, with clips to hold them in place, as well as raising the tables up to sitting position again, and painting the seats. There are many things that could be done if people ever want to help. The dock desperately needs a coat of paint which we would be happy to provide.

I would also love to see some of our kids (mine and Norma's) help with some of the yard work this year. Many hands make light work.

Guess that's all for now. Sounds like a good season coming up! Greg and Faith will be here for a visit this year, as well as Tim and Abbie. Dawn and Jimmy are home and hopefully there will be many good times on the porch and around the campfire.

Hello 2017! Our first reservation to note...

Hey there! Happy 2017! I'm sure praying it's a good one for all of us.

We have our first reservation date for this year. When the last Dewing Reunion took place in 2015, and the whole Wisconsin crew was packing in wherever they could find space, I thought how sad we didn't think soon enough to offer the Pond as extra housing. Had to be hard finding places for the whole big Wisconsin crew. So in talking with Gene and Norma we decided if it came up again we'd make the offer.

Ben contacted me a couple of weeks ago, and since I haven't heard from anyone else wanting to use it for the reunion, we went ahead and gave he and his family the go ahead to use the place for reunion weekend.

Of course this doesn't preclude someone parking a camper if they wanted to...thinking of Les and Joe possibly wanting to do that...that would be just a matter of checking in with me so we know what's happening.

If anyone hasn't heard the details about Dewing Family Reunion 2017, it will be held the weekend of May 27th. Saturday the 27th will be at the Community Building for the main portion of the Reunion. The planning committee is talking of possibly a campfire night somewhere on Saturday night, and other festivities on Sunday for those who can make it. Sounds like it will be a blast!

So get that date on your calendars; May 27 for the Reunion, and Ben and Ashley will be using the Pond place to stay that weekend.
